Today's viewing pleasure! Yup, PUPPIES!

Congo

I'm still learning how to post stuff on here so bear with me.  I've taken individual shots and one group shot of the Fab 5 Chatre pups so that their audience can start to tell them apart.  I'm "PLANNING" on inserting photos in this order:  boys first--Congo and Cuba, then the girls--China, Chile and Cameroon, followed by the group shot.  Here goes!

Photos! Photos! Photos!

We have baby names picked out now!

The little male in front of Treas's face is now Cuba.  The LARGE girl with the wide blaze below is Chile.  The brindle girl is now Cameroon.  When I get a photo of the big red boy with the larger blaze, his name will be Congo!

Please enjoy these few new photos of the Chatre/Fab 5!  Top left is Treasure with Narrow Blaze boy.  Next on right is an individual photo of that same boy.  Next is the brindle girl.  Finally, is the broad blaze girl.  I'll try to get individual shots of the others later.

Fab 5 photo

Thought you would enjoy this latest photo of the Fab 5 apris puppy tipping.

First Photos

Okay!  Got home at 7:30 this morning after being with the ER vet since about 11 p.m.  Treasure is sleeping and the puppies appear to be doing fine!  Here is the first photo of the Fab 5!

It's a good news/bad news kinda day!

We have PUPPIES!  We had to have them by C-section at 0'dark thirty, but most of them survived.  Treasure has five beautiful puppies to take care of and for us to play with!  At the moment, it appears to be two red boys, two red girls and a brindle girl.  We lost the first girl (a brindle) who was born at 10:33 Tuesday night, but the others look great and are doing well.  Treasure is in pain but is being wonderful with the babies.   I will post more later, but I'm kinda whipped being up all night last night and most of the night before, so I'm going to make a bed on the floor in case any of the babies or Treasure need me!  I'm telling you, breeding is not for the faint at heart!

Sigh, nothing yet

Boy, they got that "byotch" name by NO accident!  She's totally messing with me!  Her temperature is back up to 100.9!!!!  BUT she's acting very nervous and wandering about--peeing little tsps full of urine every few minutes!  and GROANING!  But I can feel NO contractions.  I'll show her.  I'll go to bed in my OWN bed tonight!  (or maybe not)

Downward Facing Dog

Sooo, Treasure is doing yoga to (1) either relax her enough to go back to sleep, or (2) move these puppies along!  I found her doing the downward facing dog this morning . . . sigh . . . I've gone out and fed the sheep and the pony, had a cup of coffee.  Think I'll have another cup and either wake up or go back to bed.  The wretch--err, I mean, sweet Treasure appears to be resting comfortably right now.

4 a.m.

Well, I'm exhausted.  Treasure seems fine.  We took a potty break.  I'm taking my pillow and going to MY bed for a while.  My back said "YAY"!  Ms. Treasure is just grinning and saying, not yet!

Potty break at 12:30 a.m.

Well, I've had two hours of sleep when Treas woke me (yes, I'm sleeping on the floor next to the box) to go out to go potty.  Panting.  No hard labor yet.  Treasure just looks at me with accusation (I feel guilty).

Soon is a relative term, Treasure says!

Okay!  I watched Treasure on and off all day on the spy cam I installed--she slept a lot--wandered around the box some--panted a LOT!  So now it's coming on 9 p.m.   We just went out for another potty break and I had to tell Treasure yet again, NO, you are NOT having your babies behind the oil tank in the side yard!!!  She decided she needs a break from the whelping box and will watch the last hour of Sing-Off with me on the couch.  (I'm thinkin' she'll get "busy" about 3 a.m.--or conceivably, not until 6 a.m. when I'm dropping from exhaustion!)

It's gonna be soon!

Okay!  Treasure's temperature dropped sometime in the night to about 98.4.  What that signifies is that within 24 hours of the drop, she will be having the babies!!!  I have to go into work this morning to organize my desk and get projects handed off, but I'm putting Treasure in the whelping box and shutting her in there.  We're in the whelping room this morning and she's currently hurling up what breakfast she ate a bit earlier.  (lovely)  Gotta go clean stuff up (ick).  Okay that lovely job is done.  Guess I better get ready for work!  More later!!!

Treasure's a bit uncomfortable!

So, Treas and I have been hanging out in the whelping room--she's still not convinced she likes what I've done to it--stripped out all the interesting places to hide things, for instance, laid a nice gray tarp over the hardwood floor and added some kind of box, in which I insist she will have her babies and which she so far refuses to get into!  She had a nice breakfast of boneless pork ribs, was begging for my cooked scraps for an early lunch so I gave her another rib--which she is carrying around looking for a good storage place in case I never feed her again (a thing she evidently worries about!).  She's been panting a lot and is acting uncomfortable, but her temperature was 100.8 this morning, so there shouldn't be any puppy surprises today.

Very pregnant Treasure

Pregnant Treasure

Okay, I've set up a blog (hopefully correctly) and am posting my first message.  I'm going to try to add a couple photos of Ms. Treasure.  She's VERY pregnant and is due next week.  Feel free to make guesses on how many--sexes--colors--(can only be brindle or red, tho).
