Rescue Dog -- Meet Brutus

So, I got an e-mail from the Cardi Rescue folk that there was a Cardigan advertised on Craigslist and could I get him as it was in my area.  So, I called the people who have  had this poor little boy since he was a little puppy.  They were moving and couldn't take him with them.  He's very scared and thinks he's been dog-napped and placed in a crazy home--I've had him a week and he's just starting to trust me a little.  He's neutered, was a house dog all his five or six years and has been VERY good in the house.  He's been sleeping on the couch at night and snuggling next to me on it at night watching TV.  Last night he decided he wanted to sleep on the bed with me and Ms. Monroe--so he did!  If you know of anyone who would have the patience it will take to win Brutus' trust, this boy would be lovely for someone who doesn't want a high energy busy dog.

This is my "good" side!

Yes, I'm a bit THICK!

Gotta love this face!

Good Day Herding

Whoo-hoo!  Dinah likes to make the sheepies RUN!

GOOOO!

See Dinah's focus?

She's commencing to wear down a bit.

Notice the tongue?

See!  Dinah can (eventually) exhibit the calm movement of stock!

Treasure--Look BACK!

Treasure is much better at the calm movement thingy!

Duck dogs are born, not made!

Ducks and Sheep, Oh, My! a/k/a Herding

Susan had to work with a WILD and WOOLY puppy today!  I think she broke her little plastic rake thumping the ground, asking Dinah to STOP!  Ummm, eventually Dinah listened!

Actually Dinah did some lovely work with the duckies--watching to make sure they all stayed together.

See, Dinah calmed down . . . eventually!

Oops!  And then Susan brought out the sheep!

Dinah really likes the FAAAST sheep!

But eventually, Dinah got them all together and moving out!

And then . . .

Dinah noticed the COW!  HOLY COW, Dinah exclaimed!

That's the BIGGEST Sheep I EVER saw!

Baby Dinah Meets SHEEP!

Wasn't sure what Dinah would think of the BIG sheepies--evidently she thinks they are FUN to CHASE---err, that's HERD!
I'm bringing 'em back, Ms. Susan!

I'll be there in JUST a minute!

Almost there!

Good job, Dinah!

Find the Corgi and the DUCKS (hint--this is Treasure, a red girl)!

Baby Dinah and Treasure at Herding Practice

Whoo-hoo!  That's right, duckies--I'm BAAAD!
Susan worked with both Baby Dinah and Ms. Treasure today.  Dinah is showing wonderful herding instinct and is starting to learn directions!

Now for the centerline panels!

I'm keeping 'em with Susan!
Treasure is getting ready to complete her Herding Started title in two weeks.

That's right, sheepies--THROUGH the gate!
Dinah and the ducks!

Dinah on the Move

Dinah meeting Thor--the herd-protecting Great Pyr.

Reach AND drive!

Look at that shoulder!

Okay, Dinah says, how many passes do I have to make?

Wearing out the PUPPY HERE!

Baby Dinah--BEST IN MATCH!

McCombs Black Dinah (a/k/a BABY DINAH) went Best Puppy in Match today at the Tullahoma Kennel Club, Inc. All Breed Conformation B Match in tough competition!

Thank you to both judges--Dinah's breed and group judge, Emily (I didn't get her last name, sorry) and especially to Barb McCormack, who awarded Dinah Best Puppy!
Yes, I know I could do a better job stacking her.

Thank you, Kathy McCombs for this fun puppy!

Duck Works

So Susan "worked" Dinah on the ducks--in the ducks' very own run (which the ducks thought was pretty darned intrusive!).  No matter how fast they ran or how much they flapped their wings in her face OR when they tried to hide in the foliage--Dinah would find them and MAKE them MOVE VERY FAST!
Hummm, are they in here?

Almost got him!

Flap all you want, doesn't SCARE ME!

I can still see you, you know!

Okay, maybe that is a LITTLE scary!
